Intermedio 1, Monday 30th March
Hi! today we have corrected homework (workbook page 44, exercises 1 and 2). Then we have started lesson 9B (pages 88-89). We have talked about TV programmes and commented on the vocabulary on exercise 1. After that, we have read the text and done exercises 1 and 2 (choose a title for each paragraph and tick the sentences which are mentioned in the text). Finally, I have handed a photocopy, and we have done a listening on a reality show and we have done a role play interviewer-contestant.

Today we have started unit nine (pages 86-87). First, we have talked about entertainment in general and about things you can do in a day out in your town. Then, we have commented on the different activities proposed on page 86, theatre, classical music, DJ battle, musicals... and you have talked about the activities you like most. After that, we have done the listening exercises, to put the events in order, to correct the mistakes in the information given, and to match the activities to the adjectives used to describe them (ex. 2, 3, 4). After that, we have explained adjectives ending in -ing and -ed, and we have done exercise 2 on page 87. We have also commented on the ranking of the most popular activities in Britain (p. 87, Did you know?

We have also done exercise 3, to see some vocabulary. Afterwards, I have explained will, may and might to make predictions, and we have done exercise 1 and exercise 3 (speaking). Hi!
today we have corrected workbook, page 58, exercises related to the text. After that, we have worked with pages 84 and 85 from the workbook, too, and you have to write a description of your favourite possession, following the example, for next week. We have explained exercise 3 and 4 in detail, to explain words for adding information: what's more, moreover, furthermore, besides and in addition go at the beginning of the sentence. They mean es más, además. "Also" goes in the middle of a sentence, before the main verb and after the verb to be. (significa también). "too" and "as well" go at the end of the sentence. Both of them mean "también".
Finally, we have worked with a listening exercise, which is similar to the one you have in the exam. You had to match five different speakers with what they say. On the other side of this photocopy, there is a reading exercise in which you separate the paragraphs of two different stories, and put them in order. This is the homework.

Then we have read the text on page 110 from the book to look for examples of modal verbs in the past, and we have done exercise 3 (put the events in order). After that, we have started lesson 11D. First, we have talked about shopping in general, and whether you prefer going shopping to the mall or to small shops. Then, we have done the listening + exercise 3. We have seen the difference between fit, suit and go with, and we have practice them by describing the picture and people's clothes. We have also done the Functional language exercise, to complete the dialogues in order to revise some useful expressions when you go shopping. We have checked the answers with the CD. Finally we have done a speaking activity, a role play about shopping, with a shop assistant, a customer and a friend.

Hi!
Today we have spent the first hour with Deborah, talking about environmental issues and speaking about the congestion charge (a tax you have to pay if you want to go by car to the city centre in London) and we have done a role play on the possibility of introducing it in Logroño.
In the second hour I have given you a photocopy on writing a composition to provide solutions to problems. You've got there the structure, useful language and an example, and you have to write a composition on the problem you prefer for next week.
Finally, we have corrected the prepositions exercise on page 73, and I have handed a list of adjectives + prepositions and nouns + prepositions. We'll comment on this on Thursday.

Then, I have explained the grammar point from page 109, modals of obligation, and we have done exercise 1 and 2. We have also seen the grammar from page 111, modals of obligation in the past, and we have done exercise 2. To practice these modals, you have to do as homework Workbook: page 55, exercises 3 and 4; page 56, exercises 1, 2, 3.
Finally , we have practiced some listening with a dvd extract, with which you had to take notes on what four different speakers said.
